ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND:Light-cured resin is a new kind of material with beautiful color, high strength, wide range of applications, easy-to-use and inexpensive features. Patients are wil ing to accept it because of less or no grinding of the teeth. OBJECTIVE:To observe the effect of light-cured resin to fil the interdental space between maxil ary anterior teeth. METHODS:A total of 32 patients aged 21-52 years were enrol ed, 107 teeth with 75 oversized maxil ary spaces, including 15 males and 17 females. One space between bilateral central incisors was found in 14 cases;three spaces between bilateral central incisors, left lateral incisor, and left canine were found in three cases;three spaces between bilateral central incisors, right lateral incisor, and right canine were found in two cases;four spaces between left central incisor, left lateral incisor, left canine, right central incisor, and right lateral incisor were found in three cases;three spaces between bilateral central incisors and lateral incisors were found in six cases;four spaces between left central incisor, left lateral incisor, right central incisor, right lateral incisor, and right canine were found in four cases. Al the oversized maxil ary spaces were fil ed with light-cured resin. Then, crown morphology, adaptation, color, degree of wear and loosening were observed during fol ow-up. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:After 3-year fol ow-up, 17 of 32 cases were successful in tooth repair:the crown morphology and tooth adaptation were good, and there was no prosthesis loosening or detachment and discoloration. The tooth space was repaired basical y in another nine cases:the crown morphology and tooth adaptation were not good enough, no prosthesis loosening or detachment was found, but there were some defects at the gingival margin and contact surface of teeth as wel as mild discoloration. Tooth repair failed in the other six cases with worse crown morphology and adaptation, prosthesis loosening or detachment, and severe discoloration, which need to be repaired again.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate a more pedect method for a nice outward appearance of a reconstructed thumb. Methods A free one-stage plasty second toe transfer for thumb reconstruction by interchanging the whole skin-nail flap from the great toe with another one from the second toe. Results There were 12 cases in this group,following-up 6-9 months in 8 cases,7 cases was excellent and 1 cases was good. The reconstructed thumb got a nice looking and more normal function while no blight to the great toe occurred. Conclusion It is an effective new procedure in ameliorating outward appearance of the reconstructed thumb by transferring the free moulded second toe.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To observe the effect of Kechuanning on Th cytokine expression in pediatric virus-induced asthma.Methods:120 cases of pediatric virus-induced asthma were randomly divided into Kechuanning group(treatment group,n =60,treated with Kechuanning) and Western medicine group(control group,n=60,treated with virazole). The change of Th1 cytokine IL-12 and Th2 cytokine IL-4 in blood serum were detected and analyzed. Results:Kechuanning could increase IL-12 but decrease IL-4 level in the patient's blood, therefore regulate Th cell subset, and the effect was more obvious than in control group. Conclusion:The mechanism of Kechuanning in curing pediatrics asthma induced by virus was related with increasing IL-12 and decreasing IL-4 level.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To explore the nature of pathology of sluggishness of lung-defensive qi and to offer objective experimental indexes for weifen syndrome (defensive phase syndrome). METHODS: According to the completely random design, the plasma levels of vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) and thromboxane B2 (TX2) of 19 patients with weifen syndrome and 13 patients with qifen syndrome (qi phase syndrome) were detected by radioimmunoassay. The plasma levels of VIP and TX2 at different stages of weifen syndrome and qifen syndrome were observed. RESULTS: The plasma levels of VIP in weifen syndrome and in the late stage of weifen syndrome increased greatly at different stages as compared to qifen syndrome and the blank group (P 0.05). CONCLUSION: VIP may be an index reflecting the pathology of weifen syndrome, and it is one of the material foundations of sluggishness of lung-defensive qi, but it has nothing to do with the infected internal organs. The level of TX2 increases only after the fever of patients with weifen syndrome subsided, so it can not be the basis for diagnosis of the early stage of weifen syndrome. It doesn't increase in qifen syndrome either, the mechanism remains to be further studied.
